President's Message - #2

AMCA's North America Region Meeting (formerly Americas Region Meeting and Mid-Year Meeting) for 2019 is around the corner, and it is going to be unlike any of the meetings you may have attended in years past.

Set for May 5 and 6 at Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Ill., the meeting has been re-engineered, all with the intention of maximizing impact and optimizing participants' time.

Previously comprised of Air Movement and Air Control committee reports, the meeting, inspired by member feedback, has been re-imagined as a series of work sessions focused on AMCA's new three-year strategic plan and the association's most important advocacy issues.

Following a general session and discussion of topics of interest to both Air Movement and Air Control members, workshops for the two divisions will be held. These breakout sessions will take place simultaneously, eliminating the repetition and downtime experienced when the sessions were held consecutively.

The biggest changes to the meeting format will be seen the afternoon of May 6. Taking a cue from other regions and their regional meetings, North America will be holding in-person gatherings of some key committees--Marketing, Education and Training, Industrial Manufacturing, and Damper Engineering/Air Control Code Action and Review--which will work on the strategic and tactical direction of the association for this year and beyond. The meetings are designed to be more action-oriented and member-driven than a teleconference.
