AMCA Seeks Volunteers for Committee to Develop a NEW Standard: AMCA 280
Submit the completed form by 18 February 2022.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., 18 January 2022—AMCA International Inc. is seeking volunteers to serve on the technical committee for a new AMCA Standard: AMCA 280—Method Of Test For Wind Loading Of Fans.
This NEW standard will establish uniform methods for laboratory testing of wind resistance and large missile debris impact resistance of fans.
Tests conducted in accordance with this standard are intended to demonstrate a fan’s capability to withstand wind pressure, lateral force, large missile impact(s), or any combination thereof. The test methodology, pass/fail criteria, and functional criteria will be defined. The wind pressure test methodology in this standard is intended to demonstrate a fan’s ability to sufficiently retain its structural integrity, as well as to help maintain the integrity of the building envelope. The lateral force test methodology in this standard is intended to demonstrate a fan’s ability to sufficiently transfer loads of a wind force to its attachment points and to the building structure. The large missile debris impact test methodology in this standard is intended to demonstrate a fan’s ability to maintain the structural integrity of its housing and of the components attached to it.
Committee members would be expected to participate in reviewing the standard and resolving any comments received. Meetings will be held virtually by conference call.
Stakeholders for the Standard include fan manufacturers, building design engineers and architects, end-users, fan testing labs, and associations within the HVAC industry (trade associations and professional societies).
This invitation closes on February 18, 2022.
